ReNew, established in 2011 and a subsidiary of ReNew Energy Global PLC, is one of India’s largest renewable energy IPPs in terms of total energy generation capacity. Since commencing operations in 2011 with a 25.2 MW wind project in Jasdan, Gujarat, the company has grown exponentially, and has a current renewable asset base of 13.7 GW (as on June, 2023), including projects under development and in the pipeline. ReNew is one of the largest renewable energy companies globally and in October 2019, ReNew became the first RE company in India and among the top 15 globally to cross 8.0 GW of installed capacity. ReNew’s current commissioned capacity stands at ~8.4 GW (as on June 30, 2023) which lights up approximately ~14 million homes across India, represents about 1% of total electricity demand in India, and mitigates 0.5% of India’s carbon emissions.

Today, ReNew operates almost 120 utility scale projects spread across 9 states in India and is India’s only renewable energy unicorn as per the Hurun India Unicorn Index 2020. In March 2021, ReNew also became the first renewable energy company in the world to be recognised a ‘Lighthouse’ by the World Economic Forum. The WEF Global Lighthouse Network is a community of production sites and other facilities that are world leaders in the adoption and integration of the cutting-edge technologies of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).
